Glyn Philpot produced three plaster casts of Echo and Narcissus in about 1931, but no bronze casting was made of it in his lifetime. While one bronze was cast posthumously in 1968, the present work is from an edition of 8 cast in 1986, the year in which an exhibition of the artist's bronzes was held at Leighton House.
