'This is a self-portrait that I did in my place where I live now, that’s my kitchen and all my paintbrushes. I wanted to do a small self-portrait including the windows and the view outside. It must have been winter. At the time, that was kind of my life – Adam was about 10 or 11. So half the time I was in the kitchen, being the woman, and half the time I was trying to be the artist, in the living room.'
