'Finished my painting of Dean Street in Soho, which I started a few weeks ago. I painted there a lot last week, dodging a few showers but enjoying the sunny afternoons. The work was mainly inspired by trying to capture The French House – a place I frequented often in my late teens and early twenties, the scene of many memorable occasions and incredible people I drank with there ... some of whom are still alive!'
